The problem

A streaming service lives or dies on whether people can find something to watch. A large catalog makes that harder, not easier: thousands of shows and movies, each with episodes, ratings, genres, and airing status, all of which have to stay fast and current.

What we built

• A shows and movies catalog with ratings, release years, and episode counts
• Curated browse rails: currently airing, trending now, and top rated
• Genre entry points: action, fantasy, comedy, romance, drama, adventure
• Search across the full catalog
• Title pages carrying episode lists and audience signal

How we built it

We treated the catalog as the product. Metadata, ratings, and airing status are modeled properly so a rail like “currently airing” stays true without anyone maintaining it by hand. Browsing is the default path and search is the escape hatch, which is the pattern that matches how people actually pick something to watch.

What it changes

The catalog scales without the interface degrading. Adding titles and seasons is a data operation, not a redesign, and the rails re-sort themselves as ratings and airing status move.
